Chestnut Hill, Mass. -
Junior defenseman Emily Pfalzer and sophomore forward Haley Skarupa were both named to the All-New England Division I Women's All-Star Team, acknowledged by the New England Writers Association on Wednesday. The accolade is determined by votes from all Division I coaches and certain media outlets in the New England area.
Skarupa earns the distinction on a team-leading, 41-point season, accumulating 25 goals and 16 assists. Her 25 goals in 33 games rank Skarupa fifth in the nation. Skarupa's 33 games are the fewest played among the top 25 goal-scorers this season. Last season, in addition to an All-New England All-Star, Skarupa was distinguished as the Hockey East Rookie of the Year closing the season with 24 goals and 29 assists.
Pfalzer is the only defenseman to have previously garnered an All-New England distinction. Over the course of the season, Pfalzer tallied six goals and 19 assists, for a total of 25 points. The 19 assists in a single-season is the third-highest in program history. At the beginning of March, Pfalzer was honored with the WHEA Best Defenseman Award.
