Hanlan, Westphal Named Eagles of the Week
December 09, 2014 | Men's Basketball
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior guard Olivier Hanlan (men's basketball) and senior Liv Westphal (women's track & field) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Hanlan averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.0 steals in wins over Marist and Providence last week. He scored nine points and dished out a career-high nine assists in the victory over the Red Foxes on Monday. He then scored a game-high 24 points to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win over the Friars on Friday.
In the first meet of the season at the BU Season Opener, Westphal set a new school record with her first-place 15:31.62 finish in the 5k. The previous record was 16:02.99, held by Julie Spolidoro since 2003. Her time is the eighth fastest time in NCAA DI collegiate history. Westphal's 15:31.62 5k finish was faster than all of last year's NCAA DI Championship qualifying times.
Men's basketball (4-3) will host Maine on Thursday and Binghamton on Sunday. Women's track & field is back in action on January 10 at Yale.
