Chesthut Hill, Mass. - - Senior Liv Westphal has been named the ACC Women's Performer of the Year according to a release from the conference Wednesday afternoon. This is Westphal's first Performer of the Year award.
Westphal finished in first place in three races this fall, taking the top spot at the Minuteman Invitational (Sep. 13), the Battle in Beantown (Sep. 26), and the ACC Championships (Oct. 31).
The Limoges, France native ran a personal best 19:43 at the Wisconsin Adidas Invite on Oct. 17 to finish fourth overall.
Westphal's stellar cross country season was highlighted by her record-breaking 19:43 6k for first place at the ACC Championships in Earlysville, Va. on Oct. 31. After recovering from a fall at the start of the race, Westphal broke the Panorama Farms course record and tied her personal best from earlier in the season.
"Liv had an outstanding fall season. Her record breaking effort at the ACC championships was arguably one of the top performances on any cross country course this year. Liv is a tremendous role model to all student-athletes at Boston College," said head coach Randy Thomas.
The senior led the Eagles to a fifth-place team finish in the NCAA Northeast Regional on Nov. 15 with her fourth-place individual time of 20:16.
Westphal earned All-American accolades for the second year in a row after placing 30th in a field of 255 runners at the NCAA Championships with a time of 20:37.
