Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College field hockey senior Emma Plasteras has been named Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I First-Team All American, the organization announced on Monday. This marks the third year in a row Plasteras has garnered All American accolades and the second straight year with first team honors.
“What a fantastic honor for Emma to be recognized again as one of the top players in the country. She is an impact player for our program and this accolade reinforces that not only do we value her contributions here at BC but that the entire country realizes the difference she makes on the field for our team,” said head coach Ainslee Lamb.
The North Vancouver, B.C. native was third on the 2014 Eagles squad with 21 points on six goals and a team-leading nine assists. She earned First-Team All Northeast Region and First-Team All ACC honors as well. Plasteras finished seventh in the ACC in assists per game (0.47).
Plasteras is the 16th Eagle to earn NFHCA All-America accolades, tallying the honor for the 26th time in program history. Under Lamb, nine players have earned 14 All America honors.
All seven ACC teams were represented on the All American list and the 15 student athletes on the list were the most from one conference in the nation. Seven ACC players were named to the First Team, four to the Second Team, and four to the Third Team.
The Eagles finished the 2014 season with a 13-7 record and made the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
