Q&A With Steve Perpiglia
November 04, 2014 | Men's Basketball
What did you do this offseason on and off the court?
"Personally, I had to work a lot. I went home to work. I got up early every morning to head to the gym, lift and get a little basketball workout in before the day."
What are some specific things that the coaching staff has had you work on personally?
"They are pushing me to play smarter basketball; turnover-free basketball. As a team, they want us to be a strong defensive team."
Can you talk about how the guard play has changed from last season?
"Our ball handling is a lot better. We did a lot of shooting last year. This year I think we are going to get to the rim a lot more and be able to work off of ball screens a lot better."
What are some things you've seen change in this team so far this year?
"I've seen a ton of positivity and holding people accountable; encouraging people to reach another level and improve their game."
Use three adjectives to describe a Jim Christian practice.
"Intense. Aggressive. Tough. They are tough practices."
Why do you wear #10?
"One of my good friends wears #10 and when I had to switch numbers, #10 sounded like a good number. I wore #1 because it's a small number and I'm a small person. It made sense to put on the least amount of number."
What are you looking forward to the most in the next 10 days?
"Just getting going. We have a game on Thursday. I think I'm most excited for the season to get started; to start winning some games and make the NCAA Tournament."
