Men's Hoops Begins Homestand Monday Night

EAGLES BEGIN SIX-GAME HOMESTAND
• Boston College starts a six-game December homestand by hosting Marist on Monday at 7 p.m.
• The game will be televised on ESPN3 with Eric Frede and Malcolm Huckaby on the call.
• This is the second all-time meeting between the programs. BC won the first contest back in 2000, 74-65.
• The Eagles took a week off after going 1-2 in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. They opened with a win against New Mexico and then lost to West Virginia and Dayton.
• Marist has started the season at 1-4, dropping its first four games. It defeated Fresno State, 68-64, in the finale of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida last Wednesday.
PUERTO RICO TIP-OFF HIGHLIGHTS
• Boston College went 1-2 in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
• It opened the tournament with a 69-65 win over New Mexico.
• In the semifinals, BC had a 42-32 lead on West Virginia, but the Mountaineers outscored the Eagles, 33-16, in an 11:32 span to take a 65-58 lead with 2:36 remaining.
• West Virginia defeated Connecticut in the finals.
• In the consolation game, BC hung tight with Dayton most of the way. The Eagles cut the Dayton lead down to 54-52 with 4:20 left, but the Flyers scored the next 10 points to seal the win.
• Junior Olivier Hanlan averaged 17.7 points and 4.0 assists in the three games.
EAGLES LOSE TO DAYTON, 65-53
• Senior Eddie Odio recorded 11 points and five rebounds, but Boston College lost to Dayton in the finale of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, 65-53.
• Odio went 6-for-7 from the foul line. Eight of his points came in the second half. He also had three steals.
• Junior Olivier Hanlan recorded 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
• Junior Dennis Clifford had a game-high nine rebounds to go along with six points.
• Dayton made the first run of the game when it went on a 10-2 run over 4:00 to take an 18-8 lead midway through the first half.
• BC responded with an identical 10-2 run to bring the deficit back to 20-18 with 7:41 on the clock. Graduate student Dimitri Batten converted a 3-point play and Odio hit a trey during the run.
• The Flyers scored the last five points of the half to take a 34-27 lead into the locker room. Jordan Sibert closed out the first 20 minutes with a 3-pointer, his fourth of the half.
• With the game tied at 42-42, Dayton scored five-straight points, but BC responded with five of its own to tie the game again.
• The game was still tied at 47-47 before the Flyers scored five straight to take a 52-47 lead with 5:58 to go.
• The Eagles rallied back to get the game to 54-52, but Dayton scored the next 10 points to pull away for the win.
BIG LEADS
• Boston College held double-digit leads in each of the first four games this season.
• The Eagles went up by as many as 18 points in the season opener against New Hampshire. The Wildcats dwindled that lead late in the game and BC won, 58-50.
• BC stifled UMass in the first half, allowing just 24 points while the Minutemen shot 4-for-15 from the floor. Massachusetts started the second half with a 23-6 run that gave it a 47-38 lead with 13:33 left in the game.
• The Eagles led New Mexico by six points at the half and extended that lead to 47-34. BC won that game, 69-65.
• BC took a 32-21 lead into the half against West Virginia, but the Mountaineers outscored Boston College, 33-16, over an 11-minute span in the second half to build a 65-58 lead with 2:36 left.
