Volleyball Welcomes Three Newcomers For 2015
November 19, 2014 | Volleyball
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Head volleyball coach Chris Campbell and his staff will welcome three new additions to campus in Fall 2015. BC is nearing the end of their strongest season in six years, and will look to continue their improvement next season. The Eagles will lose just three seniors to graduation, but their absence will be felt. Kellie Barnum, Courtney Castle and Lauren Fields will graduate with the Class of 2015.
Arriving to Boston College in August will be McKenna Goss (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Camille Oemcke (San Diego, Calif.) and Michelle Klinkowski (Ledyard, Conn.). The three incoming freshmen will join a team with a strong foundation set by the 2014 team.
McKenna Goss (Outside Hitter) is a 6-foot hitter from Dos Pueblos High School in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was named First Team All-Channel League in 2013, as well as the 2013 DPHS MVP. At the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals her team placed 5th in 2013. Goss is a two-year member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation.
"McKenna is a very talented player with experience at multiple positions. While we anticipate having her play OH/RS her past versatility speaks to her remarkable athleticism and wide range of skills. She has a nice mix of skill and power."
Camille Oemcke (Setter) is a San Diego, Calif. native who will graduate from Torrey Pines High School in the spring. So far in her senior season, Oemcke has dished out 705 assists, 28 aces, 30 blocks and 63 digs. Oemcke has been a part of four consecutive Palomar League Championships. The 5-foot-11 setter and her team won the Open Division CIF Champions in 2013. Oemece is a three-year member of the California Scholarship Federation and a two-year member of the National Honor Society.
"Camille will come to the Heights after setting for one of the top high schools and top club programs in the nation. She delivers accurate, consistent, hittable balls to her hitters; the key requirement of every high level setter.
Michelle Klinkowski (Outside Hitter) is a 6-foot-2 attacker from Ledyard, Conn. Klinkowski was her regional newspaper's 2013 All-Area Volleyball Player of the Year and helped lead Ledyard High School to an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division title. Klinkowski had a team-high 256 kills on the season. Her sophomore season she helped Ledyard win the CIAC Class M championship, the first state title in program history.
"At 6'2'' and very strong, Michelle already meets the physical requirements to compete in the ACC. Her learning curve has also been very steep so while she came to the sport comparatively late, she has made huge strides in the past couple of years; a trend we anticipate continuing once she arrives at BC.
