Women's XC Takes Fifth at NCAA Northeast Regional

Bronx, N.Y. – Boston College women’s cross country competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 14 in New York. Senior Liv Westphal was the Eagles’ top finisher in the women’s 6k, completing the Cortlandt Park course in 20:16.02, good for fourth place overall.
Westphal automatically qualifies to move on to the NCAA Championship race in Terra Haute, Ind. on Saturday, Nov. 22.
BC’s second finisher was junior Danielle Winslow, who crossed the finish line at 20:50.18 in 17th place. Winslow improved by 67 places from her performance in last year’s meet on the same course.
Westphal and Winslow earned All-Region honors for their performances in this afternoon’s race.
Laura Hottenrott finished in 36th place at 21:16.90. Senior Madeleine Davidson clocked a 21:26.35 finish time, good for 45th place, and freshman Ashbrook Gwinn finished at 21:49.33.
Other Eagle finishers included senior Brittany Winslow (22:03.48), sophomore Megan Young (22:11.83), and freshman Laura Leff.
Boston College finished in fifth place as a team with a score of 180. The Eagles placed behind fourth-place No. 22 Syracuse (154), No. 22 Dartmouth (136), Providence (128), and first-place No. 17 Iona (91). Iona had the top two finishers at the NCAA Northeast Regional, Kate Avery (19:49.45) and Rosie Clarke (20:12.84).
Selection of at-large team bids to the NCAA Championships will occur tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
