CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore defensive end Kevin Kavalec (football) and senior Jessica Wacnik (women's tennis) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Kavalec led the Eagles with a career-high 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, in the 23-17 victory at Wake Forest on Saturday. He recorded two sacks, becoming the only BC player this season to have multiple sacks in a game. Of his 10 tackles, 4.5 went for losses. Kavalec earned ACC Defensive Linemen of the Week for his play.
Wacnik won the ITA/USTA Northeast Regional Championship on October 21 at the Cull-Heyman Tennis Center at Yale University with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Yale's Hanna Yu, an All-Ivy League first team selection last season. Wacnik was the first Eagle to reach a singles regional final. Wacnik defeated five of the Northeast's elite competitors en route to the title.
Football (5-3, 2-2 ACC) takes on Virginia Tech this Saturday in Blacksburg. Wacnik will compete at the ITA/USTA National Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. on November 6.
