CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore forward Adam Gilmour picked up Boston College’s second-consecutive Hockey East honor after claiming Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon.
The Hanover, Mass., native was instrumental in the Eagles’ first conference victory of the season, netting a pair of 5-on-3 power play goals, including the game winner, and an assist. In Boston College’s home opener against Colorado College the previous night, Gilmour doled out a pair of assists.
With his multi-goal effort, Gilmour now has a pair of two-goal games under his belt his first occurring against Boston University on Jan. 17, 2014. Saturday’s three-point performance also stands as the fourth of his career.
The 6-foot-3 forward also attempted a career-best six shots. Gilmour now has six power play goals in 44 games played as an Eagle. Game-winning goals have also proven orthodox for Gilmour as the second-year skater has already netted five in his early career.
Gilmour’s award follows junior Teddy Doherty’s Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors. Both stand as career-first recognitions.
Gilmour’s five-point weekend catapulted him into a tie with rookie Alex Tuch (2-3-5) and Doherty (1-4-5) for the lead in team scoring. He is also now tied for fifth in the country with two power play tallies.
The Minnesota Wild draft pick joins Massachusetts’ Henry Dill (Rookie of the Week) and Boston University’s Matt O’Connor (Defensive Player of the Week) as the league’s honorees.
Boston College takes to the road once again next weekend for a two-game swing at Magness Arena when the Eagles collide with Denver on Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1. Local puck drop will take place at 9 p.m.
