Bender Earns WHEA Defenseman of the Week

Chestnut Hill, Mass – Junior defenseman Lexi Bender has been named Women’s Hockey East Defenseman of the Week for her performance Sunday afternoon against the New Hampshire Wildcats. This is Bender’s second league honor of the season, earning WHEA Player of the Week on Oct. 6 after recording her first collegiate hat trick against Syracuse.
Bender tallied the Eagles’ first goal in a 4-0 shutout of UNH in Boston College’s first Hockey East matchup of the year. She also recorded an assist on Alex Carpenter’s power play goal in the third period to help put BC up, 3-0, over the Wildcats. Bender was on the ice for two of BC’s four goals, giving her a plus-two rating on the day.
The Snohomish, Wash. native is now tied for most goals on the team with four on the season.
BC women’s hockey in back in action at Conte Forum this weekend, hosting Cornell for a two-game series Friday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.
