Boston College Outlook
The Eagles (2-3 ACC, 7-9) went 0-2 last weekend, falling to reigning ACC champion Duke in three sets before dropping a three-setter to Miami. Boston College currently sits in tenth place in the conference, while Clemson and Wake Forest both hold 2-3 records as well.
The Eagles played with a different lineup than usual this weekend after two of its starters were sidelined. The Blue Devils controlled Friday’s match, never allowing the Eagles to break 20 points in the three sets. The Eagles faired a bit better against the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday, but once again were not about to take a set from their opponents.
BC’s offensive efforts are led by Julia Topor and Katty Workman. Topor is ranked fifth in the conference recording 3.82 kills per set, while Workman is ranked seventh gathering 3.65 kills per set. Senior Courtney Castle, who played outside hitter this weekend instead of libero, continued to dominate the service line tallying four service aces in two matches this weekend. Castle ranks third in the ACC at 0.47 aces per set. Senior setter Kellie Barnum continues to quarterback the offense handing out 9.65 assists per set, placing her fifth in the conference.
Over the weekend junior outside hitter Workman added 22 kills to her career total and is currently ranked 5th all-time in kills with 1,153. Workman is also one double-double away from breaking the all-time record of 37.
As a team, the Eagles rank among the league’s top four in service aces (1.47 sa/s) and digs (15.53 d/s).
