#17 Field Hockey Takes On #7 Louisville Friday

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - No. 17 Boston College will travel to Trager Stadium on Friday, Oct. 17 to take on No. 7 Louisville. The Eagles look to secure their second Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season against the Cardinals. All four of BC's games against ACC opponents have been decided in overtime.
Team Records
The No. 17 Boston College Eagles sit at 9-5 on the season heading into Friday's matchup against the Cards. The 2014 BC squad has played in seven overtime games--78 minutes and 11 seconds of total extra time--this season, the most ever in program history. The Eagles have put together a 5-2 record on the road. One of those five road victories came against ACC opponent Syracuse on Sep. 20. BC's win against the Orange is its only conference win of the season as the Eagles are 1-3 in the ACC so far.
No. 7 Louisville is 10-3 approaching its 14th game of the season. The Cards have played in their share of overtime games, going to extra time in four games. Two of those overtime contests came against ACC opponents Virginia and Wake Forest.
Louisville, in its first year as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, sits at 3-2 in ACC play. In addition to its wins against the Demon Deacons and the Blue Devils, Louisville took down No. 1 North Carolina on Sep. 20. The Cardinals have dropped games to Virginia and, most recently, Syracuse.
Top Ten Opponents
Boston College is 2-2 against opponents ranked in the top ten this season. The Eagles took down No. 2 Connecticut, 3-2, in a game that went to double overtime and two rounds of shoot outs at the Newton Sports Complex on Sep. 14. The following weekend, BC defeated No. 4 Syracuse on Orange turf for its first ACC win of the season. The Eagles dropped games to No. 1 North Carolina at home on Sep. 26 and No. 9 Duke in Durham, N.C. last weekend.
Notable ACC Statistics
Boston College remains at the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference in saves per game (5.93) behind junior goalkeeper Leah Settipane. Louisville ranks second in the ACC in saves per game, with redshirt junior goalkeeper Sydney King averaging 4.69 saves per game.
The Eagles lead the conference in attack penalty corners, tallying 109 corners on the season and 7.79 per game.
The No. 7 Cardinals are second in the most recent ACC standings, behind No. 6 Virginia. No. 17 Boston College is seventh in the ACC standings, behind No. 10 Syracuse.
Louisville has earned ACC weekly accolades twice this season. Senior Mallory Mason was named ACC Co-Player of the Week on Sep. 23 after scoring two goals in the Cards' win over North Carolina. On Oct. 7, Elisa Garcia was named ACC Co-Player of the Week.
Team Leaders
Senior midfielder Emma Plasteras leads the Eagles with 18 points on five goals and eight assists. Plasteras has netted two game-winners this season. Sophomore midfielder Emily McCoy is second on the team with 16 points on a team-high eight goals and no assists.
Junior goalkeeper Leah Settipane leads the ACC with 81 saves, 19 more than the next leading goaltender.
Alyssa Voelmle leads the Cardinals with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Mallory Mason is second on the team with 16 points on five goals and six assists.

This is the first ever meeting between Boston College and Louisville since the Cardinals joined the Atlantic Coast Conference on July 1, 2014.
The Friday, Oct. 17 contest between the Eagles and the Cardinals will be Boston College's first televised game of the season, airing on New England Sports Network and ESPN3.
