Mannelly Earns WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week Honors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman Sarah Mannelly has earned WomensLax.com Rookie of the Week honors for her three-goal performance against No. 9 Virginia on Saturday, the website announced today.
The New Canaan, Conn., native's game-high three goals helped lead Boston College to its first victory over a top-10 opponent since defeating No. 7 Virginia, 12-6, on April 2, 2011 in Newton.
She scored the game's first goal and netted two goals during BC's decisive 5-0 run in the second half. The game marked the fourth time this season that she has scored three or more goals in a game.
Earlier in the week, the New Canaan High School graduate scored a goal and won three draw controls against No. 5 Syracuse.
Thus far in her rookie campaign, the midfielder has totaled 24 points on 17 goals and seven assists in addition to 14 draw controls.
Mannelly and the Eagles return to action when they host No. 6/5 Duke on Saturday at 1 p.m. on the Newton Campus Lacrosse Field.
