Crowley Named AHCA Coach of the Year Finalist

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women’s hockey head coach Katie King Crowley was recognized as one of six finalists for the FlexxCoach/AHCA Division One Women’s Hockey Coach of the Year award in an announcement made by the AHCA on Monday.
To be a finalist, coaches must either be elected Coach of the Year in their respective conferences or lead their team to the NCAA semifinal round. Crowley was honored on March 8 as Hockey East Coach of the Year at the annual awards banquet in Hyannis, Mass.
Crowley and the Eagles experienced their most successful season in program history – amassing a record of 27-6-3 en route to their third consecutive Frozen Four appearance. In her sixth season at the Heights, Crowley has compiled a career record of 119-61-34 and guided the 2012-13 Eagles to their most prolific offensive season in team history (4.36 goals per game).
Brian Durocher of Boston University was also named a finalist for the award. A Hockey East head coach has not won the award in the 15 years of its existence.
The other finalists include: Doug Derraugh (Cornell), Brad Frost (Minnesota), Paul Flanagan (Syracuse), and Mike Sisti (Mercyhurst).
The winner will be announced at the student-athlete championship banquet on Thursday in Minneapolis with the award presented at the American Hockey Coaches Association convention on May 3 in Naples, Fla.
Crowley and the Eagles will face off against undefeated Minnesota in the first semifinal of the Frozen Four on Friday night at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
