GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman Joe Rahon was voted the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.
This marks the fifth time that a BC player has earned the honor, which leads the conference. Rahon also earned the award on January 7 and classmate Olivier Hanlan has won it three times, a conference best. Hanlan and Rahon have accounted for four of the five Rookie of the Week honors since ACC play began last month.
Rahon scored a season-high 26 points to lead Boston College past Clemson on Saturday afternoon. It was the most points scored by a freshman in the ACC this season. Rahon was 9-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-7 from beyond the arc. He also had four rebounds and four assists in the game. It was the second time this year that Rahon connected on six 3-pointers.
The San Diego, Calif., product ranks ninth in the ACC in assists (3.8) and 10th in assist/turnover ratio (1.6).
