W. Track Finishes Second at BU Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston College women's track team finished second out of seven teams in its opening meet of the season at the Boston University Invitational. The Eagles had a team score of 110 and took first place in five events.
The Eagles dominated several events at the invitational, starting with the 500m dash in which the team took the top three spots. Freshman Christina Kyritsis took first (1:16.90) and classmates Camila Isern (1:19.11) and Christina Zelenoy (1:19.25) took second and third. Junior Elissa Knight (1:19.97) finished sixth in the race.
Boston College continued its winning ways in the 3000m run as three runners crossed the finish line in under 10 minutes. Seniors Elizabeth O'Brien (9:49.82), Alanna Poretta (9:52.36) and Morgan Mueller (9:54.75) took first, second and fifth, respectively.
The 800m run was handled by two newcomers as freshman Claudia DiSomma won with a time of 2:14.95 and classmate Kristin Jordan (2:22.64) finished shortly behind and placed third.
Senior Jacqueline Pollack gave the Eagles another win when she took first in the 1000m run, crossing the line in 3:05.12.
Sophomore Carly Daniel took third in the 400m dash (58.10) while freshman Emma Sullivan took fifth (59.12).
Second place in the high jump was claimed by junior Kristen McDonagh with her jump of 1.55m.
Raquel MacDonald set a personal record and ran the fifth-best time in BC history in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.29, taking fifth overall at the meet.
The Eagles will have a month off before returning to action on January 11 at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
