Volleyball Begins Four-Match Home Stand with Notre Dame, Syracuse

Chesnut Hill, Mass- The Boston College volleyball team begins a four-match home stand this weekend with matches against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents Notre Dame and Syracuse.
The Eagles (8-16, 0-12 ACC) and head coach Chris Campbell look for their first ACC win of the season as they host Notre Dame (10-14, 4-9 ACC) on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. before squaring off against Syracuse (12-13, 7-6 ACC) on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m.

Boston College vs. Notre Dame
The series between Boston College and the Fighting Irish began in 1991 with Notre Dame holding a 1-10 mark on the Eagles. BC and ND last matched up on Nov. 20, 2004 in the semifinals of the Big East Championship with Notre Dame earning a 3-1 victory over the Eagles.
Boston College last secured a victory over Notre Dame on Nov. 7, 2004 in South Bend, Ind., where the Eagles handed the Irish their first 3-0 conference loss at home since 1984.
Boston College vs. Syracuse
Syracuse leads the series with a 4-12 all-time mark against the Eagles entering the weekend. The two teams last met on Sept. 3, 2005 in the BC Invitational with Syracuse topping the Eagles in four sets, 3-1.
Team Leaders
Outside hitter Katty Workman leads the team in kills and ranks fourth in the ACC and 58th in the NCAA with 335. Workman has secured nine double-doubles throughout the 2013 season with her most recent at No. 12 Duke where she logged 13 kills and 16 digs.
Senior middle blocker Melissa McTighe sits second on the team in kills with 192. McTighe holds an average hitting percentage of .278 and leads the squad in total blocks with 78.
At the setter spot, team captain Kellie Barnum leads the team in assists with 795 and ranks ninth in the ACC averaging 8.83 assists per set.
Defensively, freshman libero Madisen Lydon paces the squad in digs with 327, averaging 3.80 digs per set.
A Look Ahead
Boston College continues the later portion of its home stand next weekend as the Eagles play host to Maryland on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and Pittsburgh on Sunday, Nov. 17 at noon.
