CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 6 women's hockey team (5-2-0, 1-1-0 WHEA) will travel to Providence (4-4-0, 1-1-0 WHEA) to take on the Friars on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena, and will then return home to host PC on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Kelley Rink.
BC is coming off a 4-1 loss to the Syracuse Orange. Kate Leary scored the lone goal for the Eagles as the team lost its first away game of the season. Boston College will look to bounce back from that loss, and a loss in its last Hockey East game to New Hampshire, and hopes to improve to 2-1-0 in the conference.
While BC has an 18-33-3 overall record against Providence, the Eagles have won eight of their last 10 against the Friars, and three straight. The last matchup came on Feb. 19, 2013 at Providence, and BC earned a 5-2 victory. Alex Carpenter, who is missing the 2013-14 season to play on the U.S. National team in the Olympics, paced the Eagles with a hat trick. The North Reading, Mass. product scored her 50th career goal in the game, while current captain Corinne Boyles made 26 saves to earn the win.
Providence has had four two-game series, and has split each of them. They have faced off against Union, Mercyhurst, Syracuse and Northeastern. The Friars have a 2-3-0 record at home and a 2-1-0 record on the road this season.
Providence also lost its last game 4-1. They dropped a Hockey East contest to Northeastern at home. They defeated the Huskies the night before in Boston 4-3, as part of a home-and-home series. PC is led by Corinne Buie, who has eight points (4-4-0) through the team's first eight games. Sarah Bryant has spent the most times between the pipes for the Friars, and is 4-3-0 with a .892 save percentage and a 2.84 goals against average in seven games.
After the two-game series against Providence, the Eagles will travel to Vermont to face off against the Catamounts on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
