Women's Soccer Earns A Draw In Miami

Junior Stephanie McCaffrey scored two goals but it was not enough as Boston College played to a 3-3 tie against Miami on Sunday afternoon at the Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, Florida. Boston College is now 8-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the ACC. Miami is now 8-6-1 and 3-6-1 in the conference.
The two goals scored by McCaffrey gives her five goals in two games this week. She now has 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points.
The Eagles forward scored her first goal in the 23rd minute on an individual effort. She gave BC a 2-0 lead in the 43rd minute.
BC not only had a 2-0 lead but outshot Miami, 9-4, at the half. The Eagles also had a 3-1 lead in corner kicks.
In the second half, Miami scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead. With 20 minutes left in the match and BC down by a goal, goalkeeper Alex Johnson received a red card. Johnson came out of the box and fouled a Miami player who broke by the Eagles defense. BC had to play man-down the rest of the way.
In the 80th minute, Boston College earned a penalty kick after a foul was called in the box. Senior Gibby Wagner stepped up and scored her first goal of the season to tie the match, 3-3.
The Eagles best chance in overtime came when McCaffrey's shot in the 98th minute hit the crossbar.
The Eagles finished the game with a 17-13 edge in shots.
