Campbell Announces 2012 Schedule

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College will take the court against two national semifinalists, five additional NCAA Tournament participants and three of its oldest rivals during the 2012 volleyball season announced head coach Chris Campbell earlier today.
The Eagles open the season on Friday, August 24 as hosts of the Boston College Invitational. BC kicks off the year at 12 p.m. versus Binghamton, before meeting Fordham, Sienna and Texas Tech in the round-robin format. Boston College has not met Siena since 2005 or Binghamton since 2007 and never faced Texas Tech.
The Maroon and Gold then head out to the Golden State for the USC Tournament from August 31 to September 1. The Eagles take one 2011 national sixth-seed Northern Iowa at 11 a.m. (PST) and Mississippi State at 6 p.m. on Friday. BC closes out the tournament against the host, 2011 Final Four participant Southern Cal on Saturday at 10 a.m. The meetings with the Trojans and Panthers will be the first in school history, while the Eagles have not seen action against the Bulldogs in over a decade.
BC returns east for the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills Invitational hosted by Maryland from September 7-8. The Eagles match with Terrapins on Friday at 7 p.m. opens their ACC schedule. Boston College meets NCAA No. 14 seed Tennessee and George Washington the following day.
Boston College is joined by Northeastern, Harvard and Connecticut in a regional tournament in Boston from September 14-15. The Eagles have played NU (24) and Harvard (22) more than any other opponent throughout program history. The 17 meetings with UConn are also among the most contested rivalries for BC.
ACC play resumes with a road to Georgia Tech and Clemson the weekend of September 21-22. The month comes to a close at home against Virginia (Sept. 27) and Virginia Tech (Sept. 30).
The month of October sees BC split time at the Heights and on the road. Boston College travels to Wake Forest (Oct. 5), Duke (Oct. 6), NC State (Oct. 19) and North Carolina (Oct. 20).
National semifinalist Florida State comes to town on Friday, October 12, followed by a match with Miami (Oct. 14). The Eagles enter the second half of the ACC season and conclude the month at home against Clemson (Oct. 26) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 28).
Boston College hosts Duke and Wake Forest in the first weekend of November, before a road trip takes the Eagles to Virginia Tech, Virginia, Miami and Florida State before Thanksgiving.
The Eagles close out regular season against at home against Maryland on Saturday, November 24 at noon.
The NCAA tournament is scheduled to begin Nov. 30 with first and second rounds at campus sites. Regionals will take place Dec. 7-8. The national semifinals and finals will be held in Louisville, Ky., Dec. 13-15.
