Men's Tennis Falls to No. 36 NC State

Raleigh, N.C. - The Boston College men's tennis team lost to 36th-ranked NC State, 7-0, Friday at the Curtis and Jaqueline Dail Outdoor Tennis Stadium. The Eagles (5-12, 1-8 ACC) could not muster a point against the Wolfpack (16-7, 2-5 ACC).
Eagle freshmen pair Matt Wagner and Philip Nelson defeated the Wolfpack's Dominic Hodgson and Austin Powell, 8-6, in the No. 3 spot. Senior duo Akash Muppidi and Alex Skinner came close in an 8-5 battle against Julian Sullivan and Sean Weber. Sophomores Jonathan Raude and Michael McGinnis lost, 8-1, in the No. 2 position.
In singles action, Muppidi fell in a hard-fought tie-breaker to the Wolfpack's 35th-ranked Jaime Pulgar, 10-6, after splitting the first two sets, 2-6, 6-2. In the No. 2 spot, Skinner was defeated in grueling sets against Hodgson that also ended in a tie-breaker, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
The Eagles take the court again against Wake Forest on Saturday, April 7, in Winston-Salem, N.C. at noon.
