
Igoe Named a Tewaaraton Award Nominee

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Graduate student Kristin Igoehas been named a 2012 Tewaaraton Award nominee, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Wednesday. She is one of 10 ACC student-athletes that have been nominated for the prestigious award.
Igoe, a native of Framingham, Mass., currently leads the team with 44 goals and 55 total points. The midfielder was recently named to the 2012 All-ACC Team, making Boston College and ACC history by earning the accolade for her fourth-consecutive year. With 163 career goals, she is just two goals shy of surpassing Lauren Costello'10 to become BC's all-time leading scorer. She also sits in the top five on the school's career record lists for points (3rd, 213), assists (4th, 50), ground balls (5th, 132) and draw controls (5th, 117).
First presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and US Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse's centuries-old roots in Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity and advances the mission of this award.
Of the 25 women that were selected as nominees, five finalists will be named and honored on May 31, 2012, at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
