
Women's Tennis Falls to No. 37 Florida State

Tallahassee, Fla. - The No. 66 Boston College women's tennis team lost to 37th-ranked Florida State, 5-2, at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles (7-10, 1-6 ACC) earned two singles victories over the Seminoles (11-6, 4-2 ACC), but could not muster enough points to take the victory.
Seniors Erina Kikuchi and Katarina Gajic both tallied singles wins for the two BC points. Kikuchi won in the No. 1 position, beating Leyla Erkan, in a hard-fought battle, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5). Gajic earned a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 victory in the No. 3 position over Mia Vriens.
Freshman Jessica Wacnik fell on court two to Ruth Seaborne, 6-2, 6-3, while junior Alex Kelleher lost to Francesca Segarelli, 6-0, 6-2, on court four. Junior Olga Khymlev was defeated by Carolina De Los Santos in a close match, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5), on court five. FSU's Amy Sargeant defeated junior Kelly Barry, 6-2, 7-5, on court six to help the Seminoles seal the win.
In doubles action, Segarelli and Seaborne beat Kelleher and Khymlev, ranked 36th in the nation, 8-6, on court one. Kikuchi and Wacnik earned the win on court two with an 8-3 win over Erkan and Sargeant. De Los Santos and Vriens beat Gajic and junior Ina Kauppila, 8-3, on the third court to take the doubles point.
The Eagles return to action on April 6 at 2 p.m. when they host NC State.
