Bolden, Carpenter Earn All-Hockey East Accolades

Hyannis, Mass. – Junior defenseman Blake Bolden and freshman center Alex Carpenter were selected as All-Hockey East first-team members at the conference’s annual awards banquet on Friday night at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis, Mass.
This is the first all-conference honor for Bolden and Carpenter. The two Eagles were also listed among the nominees for the 2012 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented annually to the women’s top collegiate player. Carpenter, along with classmates Emily Field and Emily Pfalzer, was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
First-team members also included senior goalkeeper Florence Schelling (Northeastern), senior defenseman Kasey Boucher (Boston University), freshman forward Kendall Coyne (Northeastern) and senior forward Jenn Wakefield (Boston University). Schelling was voted as Athletic Republic Cammi Granato Player of the Year.
Bolden rated second in the league for defensemen scoring, with seven goals and 10 assists during the regular season. The Stow, Ohio product has 49 points (19g, 30a) during her time in Maroon and Gold, the fifth most ever by an Eagles defenseman. The blue-liner commands a defense that ranks eighth in the nation for goals per game (1.91).
Carpenter led the Eagles with 35 points on 18 goals and 17 assists this season. The North Reading, Mass. native is the first freshman to lead the team in scoring since Stack did so with 54 points in 2006-07. The center’s 1.09 points per game is fifth highest in the nation and second in the league among rookies.
Boston College meets Boston University on Saturday, March 3 at 3:30 p.m. in the second semifinal of the Hockey East Tournament. The defending champion, fourth-ranked Eagles are the No. 2 seed, while the ninth-ranked Terriers are the No. 3 seed. The skate will be streamed live on hockeyeastonline.tv.
The winners of each semifinal will determine the league champion on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m., which may be viewed on tape delay on NESN at 4 p.m.
