Carpenter, Field Named Hockey East Players of the Week

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College women’s ice hockey freshmen Alex Carpenter and Emily Field were named Hockey East Players of the Week in a conference announcement on Monday. Carpenter was named Athletic Republic Player of the Week for the second time this year, while Field picked up her second consecutive Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honor.
The forwards led the fourth-ranked Eagles with a goal and team-high five shots each in the national semifinal loss to No. 1 Wisconsin, 6-1.
Field scored 57 seconds into the national semifinal against Wisconsin. The goal was the fastest of the year for Boston College. The Littleton, Mass. native totaled three points (2g, 1a) in the NCAA Tournament, tying the BC standard for points in one postseason. Field was second on the team in scoring with 32 points (13g, 19a) as a freshman.
Carpenter netted her second goal in as many NCAA Tournament games at the Frozen Four against Wisconsin. The point was her 12th in eight games. Carpenter finished the year with a team-high 39 points (21g, 18a). The North Reading, Mass. resident is the first rookie to lead BC in scoring since the 2006-07 season.
This is the final weekly award of the season bestowed by Hockey East.
