Almeida, Dumoulin, Kreider And Cross Receive All-Conference Honors

Four Boston College hockey players - forward Barry Almeida, defenseman Brian Dumoulin, forward Chris Kreider and defenseman Tommy Cross - earned All-Conference recognition, the Hockey East Association announced at its annual awards banquet at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, Mass. on Thursday evening.
Almeida and Dumoulin each earned All-Hockey East first-team honors, Kreider garnered All-Conference second-team recognition and Cross captured All-Conference honorable-mention accolades.
Almeida recorded 27 points - 17 goals and 10 assists - in 27 conference games. He finished league scheduled with a league-high nine power-play goals and ranked second in goals scored.
Through 38 games in 2011-12, the Springfield, Mass., resident has recorded career highs for goals (21), assists (15) and points (36). He is one goal shy of equaling his combined goal-scoring output from his first three seasons. Additionally, the 5-foot-8, 183-pound forward is currently tied atop the national leaderboard with a team-high 11 power-play goals.
Dumoulin, who was honored as the league's Best Defensive Defenseman in 2011-12, has recorded 26 points - six goals and 20 assists - in 38 games this season. He leads all BC skaters with a plus-minus rating of +20. He led all league defensemen with 21 points - four goals and 17 assists - in 27 conference games.
The Biddeford, Maine, resident ranks tied for 24th among all defensemen in college hockey in points per game.
Kreider registered a team-high 28 points - 14 goals and 14 assists - in 27 Hockey East games. Overall, he has recorded a team-high 38 points - 20 goals and 18 assists in 38 games.
The Boxford, Mass., resident previously earned All-Hockey East Rookie Team honors in 2009-10.
Cross finished the season ranked tied for fifth among all league defensemen with 18 points - three goals and 15 points - in 27 league games. He ranked third with three game-winning goals in conference play in 2011-12.
Overall, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound senior has 23 points - five goals and 18 assists - in 38 games this winter. The Simsbury, Conn., resident has 59 points - 17 goals and 42 assists - in 128 career games.
Boston College (27-10-1), the No. 1 seed in the 28th Hockey East Tournament, will face No. 7 seed Providence (14-19-4) in the semifinals of the league championship on Friday, March 16 at 5 p.m. at TD Garden. No. 3 seed Boston University (23-13-1) and No. 3 seed Maine (22-12-3) will follow in semifinal competition on Friday at 8 p.m.
The 28th annual Hockey East Tournament championship game will be on Saturday, March 20 at 8 p.m. All three games will be televised by the New England Sports Network as well as the NBC Sports Network.
