Three Hockey Players Honored By Conference On Wednesday

Three Boston College men's hockey players - defenseman Brian Dumoulin, forward Johnny Gaudreau and goaltender Parker Milner - each earned league honors on Wednesday.
Dumoulin, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior, captured Best Defensive Defenseman honors. Milner, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound junior, was crowned the league's goaltending champion with a 1.85 goals against average and a .928 save percentage in conference play, and Gaudreau, a 5-foot-8, 150-pound freshman captured Hockey East All-Rookie Team honors.
Dumoulin, who also earned the same honor last winter, is the first two-time recipient of the Best Defensive Defenseman award since the award debuted in 1998-99. Other BC recipients are Mike Mottau (1999-2000), Bobby Allen (2000-01), Andrew Alberts (co-recipient, 2003-04) and Peter Harrold (2005-06).
Dumoulin has recorded 26 points - six goals and 20 assists - in 38 games this season. He leads all BC skaters with a plus-minus rating of +20. He led all league defensemen with 21 points - four goals and 17 assists - in 27 conference games.
The Biddeford, Maine, resident ranks tied for 24th among all defensemen in college hockey in points per game.
Milner enters the semifinal round of the league tournament with a 23-5-0 record, a 1.84 goals against average and a .928 save percentage. He led all league goalies with a 16-3-0 record, a 1.85 GAA and a .928 save percentage in conference play.
The Pittsburgh, Pa., resident leads all goaltenders in college hockey in win percentage (.821), ranks fifth in GAA (1.84) and ninth in save percentage (.928). He has backstopped Boston College to 13 straight wins entering the semifinals, posting a 1.21 GAA and a .954 save percentage during this stretch.
Gaudreau has registered 35 points - 16 goals and 19 assists - in 38 games as a freshman in 2011-12. He tallied 22 points - 12 goals and 10 assists - in 27 league games.
The Carneys Point, N.J., resident has registered team-highs in goals (eight), assists (10), points (18) and plus-minus (+18) during the team's 13-game win streak.
Boston College (27-10-1), the No. 1 seed in the 28th Hockey East Tournament, will face No. 7 seed Providence (14-19-4) in the semifinals of the league championship on Friday, March 16, at 5 p.m. The game will be televised by the New England Sports Network as well as the NBC Sports Network.
