The Boston College women's basketball team is in the midst of a 10 game losing streak. The Eagles are still in search of their first conference victory. BC is coming off a tough loss to Wake Forest, 73-60, at Conte Forum on Sunday afternoon. Boston College is now 5-18 overall and 0-10 in the ACC.
BC will host No. 5 Duke on Thursday, Feb. at 7 p.m. at Conte Forum. Tickets for tonight's game can be purchased at the door.
BC VS. NO. 5 DUKE
This will be the 11th meeting between Boston College and Duke. The Blue Devils lead the series, 8-2. BC is 1-5 against Duke since joining the ACC.
Boston College last defeated Duke on Feb. 4, 2010 when the Eagles stunned the No. 6 team in the country, 61-57, at Conte Forum. Carolyn Swords led BC with 14 points and nine rebounds went 10-for-10 from the foul line. Brittanny Johnson and Swords hit key free throws down the stretch. Last year's game, Duke defeated BC, 66-53, behind 31 points from Krystal Thomas and Allison Vernerey.
LAST TIME OUT
• Boston College lost to Wake Forest, 73-60, at Conte Forum.
• Katie Zenevitch notched a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Joy Caracciolo added 11 points and five boards. Tessah Holt, who earned her third straight start, had 10 points and five boards.
• BC shot 38 percent from the floor and 8.3 percent from the 3-point line. Tessah Holt was the only Eagle to hit a long range shot.
• The Eagles lost the battle of the boards, 38-34.
• BC had 17 turnovers and missed seven free throws in the second half.
SEEING DOUBLE
• Sophomore Katie Zenevitch notched her third double-double of the season in the loss to Wake Forest on Sunday. Zenevitch had 20 points and 10 rebounds. She was 9-for-12 from the floor and had three assists and two blocks. In the game vs. No. 10 Maryland, Zenevitch missed a double-double by two points - she finished with eight points and 12 boards. Her previous double-doubles were against Hampton and St. Joe's. She now has four in her career.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
• Junior Kerri Shields is the only player to have started every game this season.
• BC has started four sophomores in 10 games this season. In 14 games, BC has started at least three sophomores. BC has had 12 different starting lineups this season.
• Eleven times the Eagles have started three sophomores, a freshman and one junior.
ON THE MARK
• BC is 18th in the country and first in the ACC in foul shooting. The Eagles are 291-for-382 (76.2%).
• Tessah Holt is shooting 86.5 percent from the charity stripe, while Katie Zenevitch is 33-for-42 (78.6%).
START UP
• Eagles freshman Joy Caracciolo earned her ninth start in the loss to No. 9/10 Maryland on Thursday, Feb. 2. A native of Bristow, Virginia, Caracciolo is averaging 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds a game. She is shooting 47% from the floor and 75% from the free throw line.
• In the games Caracciolo has started she is averaging 6.6 points per game and 3.2 rebounds. She is also shooting 51 percent from the field and 81 percent from the foul line, while averaging 22.4 minutes a game.
THE 2011-12 EAGLES
• BC is averaging 57.4 points per game, while giving up 66.9 points per game.
• BC is averaging 17.5 turnovers a game. The Eagles season-high is 25 turnovers against Wake Forest and No. 25 UNC.
• Sophomore Tiffany Ruffin had eight assists in the win over CCSU on Jan. 2. It was a career-high for Ruffin. Her previous high was six against three different teams in her freshman campaign. Ruffin played 29 minutes vs. Maryland and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds and notched seven points.
• Freshman Kat Cooper played a career-high 21 minutes against Maryland on Thursday. Cooper shot 2-for-10 from the floor, but 2-for-3 from the three-point line. She also had a career-high three assists.
• Tessah Holt started her fourth career game against Wake Forest. She has started the last three games for BC.
• Kristen Doherty is just 13 points away from 500 career points. Kerri Shields is 45 points away from 700 career points.
• Shayra Brown and Kristen Doherty have led BC in scoring five times this season. Joy Caracciolo is the only freshman to lead BC in scoring this season. She has done it twice - vs. V-Tech and Maryland.
