Gaudreau Named To U.S. National Jr. Prelim Roster

Boston College sophomore Johnny Gaudreau has been named to the preliminary roster for the 2012 U.S. Junior National Team, USA Hockey announced Tuesday morning.
Gaudreau will participate in a pre-tournament camp beginning Dec. 16 at the New York Rangers' Madison Square Garden Training Center in Tarrytown, N.Y.
The training camp continues Dec. 19-23 in Helsinki, Finland. The final roster will be named on Dec. 23.
The 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship will be held in Ufa, Russia, Dec. 26, 2012 - Jan. 5, 2013. The United States is in a group with Canada, Germany, Russia and Slovakia.
The 5-foot-8, 153-pound forward from Carneys Point, N.J., has played in all 13 Boston College games this season. He leads the club in scoring with 21 points - 10 goals and 11 assists. He leads with nation with five game-winning goals.
In his Boston College career, Gaudreau has registered 65 points - 31 goals and 34 assists -in 57 games.
The Eagles (11-2-0, 9-2-0 Hockey East), who are ranked second according to both major national weekly polls, are back in action on Friday, Dec. 7 at Providence (7-6-1, 5-4-0 HE). Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Schneider Arena.
Following Friday's game, there is a 22-day break between games for exams and Christmas. BC travels to Minneapolis, Minn., for the Mariucci Classic where it will face Alabama-Huntsville on Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. EST and host-Minnesota on Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. EST.
Last winter, then-sophomore forward Bill Arnold was a member of the U.S. National Junior Team at the 2012 IIHF World Championships in Alberta where he recorded six points - three goals and three assists - in six games and was named one of Team USA's Best Three Players of the Tournament (along with Austin Czarnik and Jarred Tinordi).
