Gaudreau Earns League Honors

Boston College sophomore forward Johnny Gaudreau, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Friday's 5-4 win at Massachusetts and scored the team's second goal of a 3-0 home win over Northeastern the next night, has earned Hockey East Association Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday.
Gaudreau recorded two points - one goal and one (primary) assist - in each victory. He assisted on Pat Mullane's second of two goals - the game-tying goal scored with 2:06 left in the third period - against the Minutemen. The Carneys Point, N.J., native also assisted on Steven Whitney's power-play goal at 18:32 of the second period of Saturday's win over the Huskies.
Gaudreau has five points - two goals and three assists - in three games this season. The 5-foot-8, 153-pound forward has 49 points - 23 goals and 26 assists - in 47 career games.
Boston College, which went 10-for-11 on the penalty kill in its four-point weekend with league wins over Massachusetts and Northeastern, is back atop both major national polls released on Monday.
Boston College is next in action at UMass-Lowell on Friday, Oct. 26. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. The Eagles and River Hawks will conclude the two-game, home-and-home weekend series at BC's Kelley Rink on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.
