Dahlberg Leads WXC at Lehigh

Bethlehem, Pa. - Junior Bridget Dahlberg led the Boston College women's cross country team to a ninth place team finish on 314 points at the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon. The Newton, Mass., native registered a personal record clip of 21:17 over the six-kilometer course to take 37th in the field of 396 athletes and score as the Eagles top runner for the first time of her career.
Villanova's Bogdana Mimic won the individual title in 20:10, while USTFCCCA third-ranked Providence topped the team standings with 101 points. The Friars bested No. 5 Villanova (104 pts.), No. 12 Syracuse (125 pts.), No. 1 Georgetown (141 pts.) and No. 16 Virginia (152 pts.).
Graduate Hope Krause came in three seconds behind Dahlberg to score second for BC in 43rd place. The New Canaan, Conn. native was clocked at 21:20 for a new personal-best.
Junior Elizabeth O'Brien was the third Eagle to cross the line, taking 57th overall in 21:36. Senior Jillian King came in 86th overall at 22:04, with freshman Brittany Winslow completing the scorecard with a time of 22:07 in 91st.
The Eagles topped ACC rival and nationally-ranked No. 9 Duke, who took 11th overall behind 343 points.
In Northeast action, No. 13 Yale took sixth overall (205 pts.) to upset regional No. 5 Cornell in seventh (209 pts.), No. 3 Dartmouth in eighth overall (301 pts.), No. 11 Brown in 12th (393 pts.) and No. 14 Harvard in 14th (447 pts.).
Boston College will resume competition with the New England Championship on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Franklin Park. The Eagles are the defending champions and have won two of the last three titles. The first heat is scheduled for 11 a.m. Directions to the course can be found here.
