Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision Against Colgate

New Haven, Conn. - The Boston College volleyball team fell to Colgate, 3-0, in its final match of the Yale Invitational on Saturday evening at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
Senior Brennan Clark led all players with 24 digs, adding two assists and an ace, surpassing Katie Andersen (1,332 digs) for third on the Eagles (1-4) all-time digs list. The Mililani, Hawaii native now carries 1,353 career digs and trails only Allison Anderson (2,176) and Lauren Schwer (1,377) in career digs at the Heights.
The Raiders (2-4) were led by Kaylee Dougherty's 11 kills on .348 hitting, with Kaylee Fifer recording 28 assists and Caitlin Cremin posting 20 digs.
Colgate took an early 6-2 lead, before errors and a pair of kills from sophomore Alex Fitzmorris allowed the Eagles to pull within one at 7-6. The Raider attack capitalized on a string of BC errors and claimed set one, 25-19.
The Eagles fell behind, 7-1, to start the second set and despite kills from outside hitters Tsvetelina Dureva and Val Mattaliano, the Raiders went up by two sets, 25-17.
Colgate jumped on Boston College once again in the third, 7-3, but after a successful attack by Mattaliano, sophomore Alexandra Trobbe registered two aces to ignite an 8-0 run that put BC on top, 12-7.
Both sides committed mistakes and found the hardwood on offense to stretch the score to 23-15. The Raiders scored 10 straight points to win the set, 25-23, and earn the win.
The Eagles will return to action on Friday at the Rhode Island Invitational against Wisconsin at 3 p.m.
