Men's Basketball Signs Patrick Heckmann

Patrick Heckmann, a 6-foot-5 guard from Mainz, Germany, has signed his scholarship papers to play basketball at Boston College, according to an announcement by head coach Steve Donahue. Heckmann will enroll at BC in September 2011 and begin play during the 2011-12 season.
Heckmann played the 2010-11 season with TV Langen in Germany's 3rd League ProB. He averaged 11.8 points and 3.1 assists in 28 games, while shooting 52.4 percent from the field. He also played for the SG Rheinhessen U19 team, averaging 24.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Heckmann was selected to the 2010 and 2011 NBBL U19 All-Star Games. He earned game MVP honors in 2010.
Heckmann is currently competing for Germany in the U20 European Championship in Bilbao, Spain. Through five games, he is averaging 12.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Prior to the U20 European Championship, Heckman participated in the ninth annual adidas Eurocamp in Treviso, Italy from June 11-13. The three-day camp, which showcases the best international basketball players in the only officially sanctioned NBA pre-draft camp outside of the United States, brings the best young players together with former and current NBA coaches and players.
Heckmann attended Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2008-09.
