ITA Names All-Academic Teams, Scholar-Athletes

Skillman, N.J. - Seven Boston College tennis players, four women and three men, and the women's tennis team were recognized for academic excellence by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday. Alex Kelleher, Olga Khmylev, Jacqueline Mabatah and Elizabeth Workman collected individual accolades as ITA Scholar-Athletes, as the women's side was named an ITA All-Academic Team for the fifth time in eight years. Brian Locklear, Jonathan Schroeder and Michael Vann of the men's team all earned their second consecutive ITA Scholar-Athlete award.
Since 2003, the women's team has had 15 student-athletes garner 24 awards. Mabatah joins Amy Molden as the only other three-time honoree from Boston College. This third consecutive year the women have earned the team award.
Locklear, Schroeder and Vann have collected the men's six honors in each of the previous two seasons.
To be eligible for the team honor, programs must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above and have all eligible student-athletes compete in at least one match.
To achieve ITA Scholar-Athlete status, collegians must earn their varsity letter, have a gpa of at least 3.50 and have been enrolled at their current institution for two or more semesters.
