Men's Soccer Announces 2011 Schedule

Eight Atlantic Coast Conference games, including home contests against Virginia Tech (Sept. 16), Wake Forest (Oct. 7), Duke (Oct. 22) and North Carolina (Nov. 2), highlight the 2011 Boston College men's soccer schedule, head coach Ed Kelly has announced.
The team will play 17 regular-season games - nine matches on its home turf at the Newton Campus and eight on the road.
The Eagles open their season with a three-game home stand beginning against George Mason on Friday, Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. and continuing with Fairfield (Aug. 28) and Quinnipiac (Sept. 1). The team travels to its first road venue - at Dartmouth - on Sunday, Sept. 4.
BC will open its ACC schedule at Maryland on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. It will host its first conference opponent - Virginia Tech - one week later (Sept. 16) and will host non-league opponent Connecticut on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Following three straight road matches - at Rhode Island (Sept. 23), at Brown (Sept. 27) and at NC State (Sept. 30) - to close the month of September, BC opens October at home against Wake Forest (Oct. 7). It also hosts Harvard (Oct. 11), travels to Clemson (Oct. 14) and Boston University (Oct. 18), hosts Duke on Saturday, Oct. 22 and plays at Virginia (Oct. 29) in the month.
The team concludes its regular-season schedule at home against North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
The ACC Men's Soccer Championship will have a different format this season with first round and the quarterfinal matches being played at the higher seed's home venue prior to the semifinals and final which are hosted in Cary, N.C. at WakeMed Soccer Park.
