Atlanta - The 39th ranked Boston College women's tennis team was downed, 7-0, by No. 11 Georgia Tech on Sunday morning at Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The Eagles (7-10, 2-5 ACC) were topped in two doubles matches to go down early. Sophomores Olga Khmylev and Alex Kelleher defeated Lynn Blau and Elizabeeth Kilborn, 8-5, on No. 2 doubles to put pressure on the Yellow Jackets (12-5, 5-2 ACC), but Tech emerged with a pair of 8-4 victories to take the point.
Kelleher then took her second nationally-ranked singles opponent of the weekend to three sets. The Worcester, Mass. native fell to No. 46 Jillian O'Neill, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1, on No. 1 singles.
Senior captain Katharine Attwell also contested her second three-set match in two days. On No. 6 singles, the Goldens Bridge, N.Y. product handed Muriel Wacker a loss, 6-3, in the first, before getting edged, 5-7 and 1-0(10-6), in the second and third sets to fall in Atlanta.
Junior Erina Kikuchi also lost in a third-set tiebreaker. The Kingsborough product rebounded from a 4-6, first set-loss against No. 89 Caroline Lilley with a 6-0 win in the second. Lilley sealed the win, 1-0(10-4), in the final set.
No. 113 Katarina Gajic fell in her match against No. 86 Viet Ha Ngo, 6-3, 6-4.
BC will travel to the Sunshine State for meetings against Miami and Florida State next weekend. The Eagles meet the Hurricanes on April 8 at 1 p.m. and face-off against the Seminoles two days later at 11 a.m.
