Hamm Runs Ninth Fastest Steeplechase In BC History

Lewisburg, Pa. – In his first attempt at the 3,000-meter steeplechase sophomore Jordan Hamm ran the ninth fastest time in the history of the Boston College men’s track and field program, as the Eagles wrapped up the Bucknell Bison Invitational on Saturday. The Java Center, N.Y. product finished fourth in section two with an IC4A qualifying mark of 9:10.50.
Sophomore Louis Serafini led the BC with a 3:53.55 clip, as five Eagles posted personal records in the 1,500-meter run. Senior Michael Keebler joined Serafini in section seven, crossing in 3:55.49, while their remaining teammates contested in hear four.
Freshman Joseph McConaughy led the crew in 4:04.23, with senior Theodore Doyle on his heels at 4:05.41. Right behind was freshman Jeremy Theriault in 4:07.77, before classmate Anthony Bellitti rounded out the squad in 4:10.47.
Freshman Kellen MacDonald also set a PR, crossing the 400-meter hurdles race in 55.35 to take third in section four.
Graduate Brian Hughes finished the 5,000-meter contest in 15:12.50 to take third in field of 36 of section two.
Doubling that distance were junior Akash Chougule (32.37.98) and sophomore James Glover (32:46.93) in the second section of the 10,000-meter run.
In the field, senior Mathew Kosmas led BC in the discus with a toss of 42.6 meters (139-9.0 ft.), while classmate Justin Vereen took the charge in the hammer throw at 40.42 meters (132-7.0 ft.)
