Carolyn Swords Garners More Accolades

Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College senior Carolyn Swords received two more awards this week for her performance during the 2010-11 basketball season. Swords' was named to the AP All-America honorable mention team as well as the ECAC First Team.
The Eagles center was also named to the Top 40 finalist for the prestigious WBCA All-America team in early March. Swords, a first team All-ACC honoree two straight years, led BC to a 20-13 season.
Swords' averaged career-highs in points (17.6 ppg.) and rebounds (9.5 rpg.) while shooting 71.4 percent from the floor. She was third in the ACC in scoring and No. 1 in rebounding and field goal percentage.
A native of Sudbury, Mass., Swords' led the nation in field goal percentage for the third straight season. She has recorded a single-season career-high 16 double-doubles and currently has 46 in her career, another program record. Swords grabbed seven double-doubles in the final eight games of the season.
Swords' became the second player in program history to reach 2,000 points. She wrapped up her four year career with 2,029 points. Swords' is the first player in program history to reach 1,000 rebounds and currently has 1,159 boards. She also became the all-time leader in blocks (178) and games played as she competed in 133 straight games.
Swords' received the ACC Postgraduate Scholarship and was named to the Top 30 Midseason Naismith Watch List. She will graduate will a degree in communications in May.
