Caroline King Tabbed As ACC Performer Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina senior Charles Cox bested a field of 116 to win the 400-meter dash and has been honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week. Boston College junior Caroline King registered a nation-leading time in the 1500-meter run en route to being selected as the league's Women's Performer of the Week.
Cox claimed the top podium spot in the 400-meter dash Friday at the Raleigh Relays. He paced the field of 116 with a time of 46.28. His mark currently ranks second in the nation. The Tinton Falls, N.J., native also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay Saturday, which finished second among 21 teams. The squad's time of 3:10.72 currently leads the conference.
King paced a field of 39 in the 1500-meter run at the Stanford Invitational on Friday. The Scotia, N.Y., native opened the outdoor season with a top time of 4:17.48. The personal best mark ranks second all-time at Boston College and currently leads the nation. She followed that performance by posting a 2:08.25 clip in the 800-meter run Saturday. The time currently ranks 10th nationally.
All 12 conference teams are in action this weekend. North Carolina travels to the Florida Relays in Gainesville. Fla., Friday and Saturday. Boston College's women's squad will participate in the Tufts Invitational Saturday.
