Mangene Earns Hockey East All-Rookie Team Accolades

Boston College defenseman Meagan Mangene has earned Hockey East All-Rookie Team honors, according to an announcement made by the conference on Wednesday.
Mangene recorded six points - one goal and five assists - through 29 games this winter. She finished the regular-season ranked first among all BC defensemen with a plus-minus rating of +20. She registered two points - one goal and one assist - and a +10 rating in 20 conference contests.
A resident of Miller Place, N.Y., Mangene registered her first collegiate point (an assist) in the team's 5-2 win at Syracuse (10/9) and scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-1 victory at Vermont (10/16) two games later.
Also experienced in international competition, Mangene captured a silver medal as a member of the U.S. Select team at the 2010 Four Nations Cup in Newfoundland in November and has competed for Team USA in World Championship competition three times.
In other league news announced on Wednesday, senior Kelli Stack, a nominee for the 2011 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, was crowned the league's scoring champion with 22 goals and 33 points in 21 games and also captured the three stars award after being named a star of the game 12 times.
Boston College (21-6-6, 13-4-4 HEA), the No. 2 seed in the ninth annual Hockey East tournament, will face No. 3 seed Providence (22-11-1, 12-8-1 HEA) in semifinal competition on Saturday, March 5 at Boston University's Walter Brown Arena. Face off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Boston University and Northeastern will precede BC vs. PC in semifinal play at 12 p.m. Saturday's semifinals will be video streamed live and available on a pay-per-view basis at: http://www.hockeyeastonline.tv
The winners of each semifinal will meet on Sunday, March 6 at 1 p.m. in the Hockey East championship game, which may be viewed on tape delay on NESN at 4 p.m.
