York Receives Hockey East Coach of the Year

Boston College coach Jerry York earned Hockey East Coach of the Year recognition and four players - forward Cam Atkinson, defenseman Brian Dumoulin, forward Brian Gibbons and goaltender John Muse - earned All-Conference recognition, the league announced at its annual awards banquet at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, Mass. on Thursday evening.
Atkinson, Dumoulin and Muse earned All-Hockey East first-team honors, while Gibbons earned All-Conference second-team accolades.
York led Boston College to the 2010-11 league regular-season title with a 20-6-1 conference record, becoming to the first team to capture 20 Hockey East wins in conference play since the league adopted a 27-game schedule prior to the 2005-06 campaign.
The award marks York's second Hockey East Coach of the Year honor and the third for Boston College. Len Ceglarski earned the award following the 1984-85 season and York previously earned the accolade following the 2003-04 season.
Atkinson scored a league-high 24 goals in 27 conference games. He finished with 38 points - 24 goals and 14 assists - in 27 league games. He tallied seven power-play goals, four shorthanded goals and three game-winning goals.
The Greenwich, Conn., resident earned All-Conference honors for the second time in as many seasons. He earned All-Hockey East second-team honors as a sophomore last winter.
Dumoulin led all league defensemen with 23 points - two goals and 21 assists - in 27 conference contests. He has recorded 30 points - two goals and 28 assists - in 34 games in 2010-11. He missed two games while competing with the U.S. National Team at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Biddeford, Maine, resident ranks tied for sixth among all defensemen in college hockey in points per game and is 14th among all players in assists per game.
Muse led all league goaltenders with an 18-4-1 record, a 1.84 goals against average and a .933 save percentage in conference play. He enters the semifinal round of the league tournament at 25-5-1 with a 2.04 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.
The East Falmouth, Mass., resident leads all goalies in college hockey in win percentage (.823) and ranks fourth in save percentage and seventh in goals against average.
Gibbons tallied 36 points, including a league-high 26 assists, in 27 conference games. Overall, he has tallied 47 points - 16 goals and 31assists - in 36 games.
The Braintree, Mass., resident earned All-Hockey East honors for the second time in as many seasons. He earned All-Conference first-team accolades as a junior last winter.
Boston College (28-7-1, 20-6-1 HEA), the regular-season champion and top seed for the 27th Hockey East Tournament Championship, will face No. 6 seed Northeastern (14-15-8, 10-10-7 HEA) in semifinal competition on Friday, March 18 at TD Garden. Face off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
No. 2 seed New Hampshire and No. 4 seed Merrimack will follow in semifinal competition. Friday's semifinals can be seen live on NESN.
The winners of each semifinal will meet on Saturday, March 19 at 7 p.m. in the Hockey East Championship game, which will be broadcast live on NESNplus.
