Men's Basketball to Play at McNeese State in NIT

Boston College has accepted an invitation to the 2011 National Invitation Tournament and will open play at McNeese State on Tuesday, March 15. Game time is 9 p.m. in Lake Charles, La.
The game will be televised by ESPNU.
BC will enter the tournament with a 20-12 record. The Eagles finished in a tie for fourth place in the Atlantic Coast Conference, finishing with a 9-7 conference mark.
McNeese State, a member of the Southland Conference, will enter the tournament with a 21-10 record, including an 11-5 league record. The Cowboys won the conference's East Division crown.
Boston College is led by junior guard Reggie Jackson and senior forward Joe Trapani. Jackson earned All-ACC first-team honors after averaging 18.1 points per game in league play. Trapani gained All-ACC third-team honors after averaging 14.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in league play.
For Boston College, 2011 marks the program's 11th appearance in the National Invitation Tournament. BC has a 16-11 all-time record in the NIT. The Eagles last participated in the NIT in 2003, defeating Fairfield (in Bridgeport, Conn.) in the opening round, before losing to Temple (in the Palestra) in the first round.
