BC To Face Northeastern In Hockey East Semifinal

Boston College, the top seed in the 2011 Hockey East Tournament, will face No. 6 seed Northeastern in the semifinal round on Friday, March 18 at 5 p.m. in Boston's TD Garden.
BC defeated Massachusetts twice in a best-of-three game quarterfinal-round series to advance to its seventh straight league tournament semifinal. Northeastern defeated Boston University in three games to earn its semifinal appearance.
BC and Northeastern went 1-1-1 in the regular-season series and BC also won the fourth meeting in the Beanpot Championship Game, 7-6 in overtime at the TD Garden. The Eagles, who are the defending champions of the tournament, have won a league-record nine Hockey East Tournament titles, including two of the last three.
No. 2 seed New Hampshire will faceoff with No. 4 seed Merrimack in Friday's second semifinal at 8 p.m.
