King Advances To Mile Final At NCAA Championship

College Stations, Texas - Boston College women's track and field senior Caroline King ran a 4:39.51 mile time to advance to the finals of the NCAA Indoor Championship on Saturday, March 12 at 5 p.m.
King began on the outer edge of the California Start and ran on the shoulder of Oregon's Jordan Hasay most of the way. Knowing the top four from each heat and the two next fastest times advanced, the first preliminary went out slow in an attempt to conserve energy.
As the field's urgency grew in the eight lap race, the Scotia, N.Y. native competitors pushed her as far back as fifth, but King made smart moves on the outside to work her way back into second and coast to the finish line with a qualifying mark for tomorrow's final.
