Boston College senior Kelli Stack has been selected as one of three finalists for the top individual accolade in women's collegiate hockey - the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award - according to an announcement made by USA Hockey on Thursday.
Stack is joined by senior forwards Meghan Agosta (Mercyhurst) and Meghan Duggan (Wisconsin) as finalists for the 2011 award, which is presented annually to the top player in NCAA Division I women's hockey. The 2011 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award will be presented at a brunch ceremony on Saturday, March 19 in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Frozen Four in Erie, Pa.
One of the most decorated players in school history, Stack was honored as one of 10 finalists for the award last Thursday. Today's announcement caps a remarkable week of individual honors for Stack and success for the team.
A forward from Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, Stack captured Hockey East Player of the Year honors last Friday, scored the team's game-winning goal in overtime against Providence on Saturday and captured Hockey East Tournament MVP accolades following the program's first league title on Sunday.
She has registered 34 goals and 56 points through 34 games overall, raising her career totals to 96 goals and a school-record 207 points. Stack has accounted for 34 percent of her team's goals this season and ranks among the nation's leaders in several offensive categories.
With its victory over Northeastern for the league tournament championship, Boston College improved to 23-6-6 overall, including a 4-0-1 record in its last five games and a 9-1-2 record in its last 12 games. An automatic qualifier for the 2011 NCAA Tournament, the Eagles earned the No. 4 seed and will host Western College Hockey Association opponent Minnesota on Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m.
