Carolyn Swords, Stefanie Murphy Earn All-ACC Honors

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Boston College center Carolyn Swords was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-ACC women's basketball first-team as announced today by the conference. Swords' is the first player in the program since BC joined the ACC in 2005-06 to earn first-team honors two consecutive seasons. Senior Stefanie Murphy was also recognized as she earned All-ACC third team honors.
Swords is averaging career-highs in points (17.3 ppg.) and is averaging 8.9 rebounds and shooting a sizzling 72.0 percent from the floor, a new single-season career-high. Swords' leads the ACC and country in field goal percentage for the third straight season. She notched a single-season career-high 13 double-doubles and currently has 43 in her career. Swords' is currently third on the all-time scoring list with 1,951 points, just seven away from moving into the No. 2 slot. She is the first player in the program to reach the 1,000 rebound plateau and currently has 1,105.
Swords', a native of Sudbury, Mass., recently received the ACC Postgraduate Scholarship and was named to the Top 30 Midseason Naismith Watch List.
Murphy, a native of Londonderry, N.H., is averaging career-highs in points (15.8 ppg.) and rebounds (8.2 rpg.). She is fifth in the ACC in scoring and sixth in rebounding. Murphy notched her 11th double-double of the season in the final regular season game against Maryland. She now has 29 career double-doubles. Murphy is shooting 51 percent from the floor and is third in the ACC in foul shooting (82.3%). She has also hit a career-high 19 three's this season.
Murphy is currently fourth on the all-time scoring list with 1,675 points and second in rebounding with 913 boards. She is also two assists away from reaching the 200 plateau for her career.
