Women's Basketball Cruises Past Clemson, 78-49

Senior Jaclyn Thoman had 14 points, while Carolyn Swords added 13 points and eight rebounds to Boston College to a 78-49 ACC win over Clemson before 1,689 fans in Conte Forum.
The Eagles led from start to finish as BC improved to 17-7 overall and 4-5 in the ACC. Clemson is now 10-14 and 3-6 in the conference.
BC jumped out to an early 12-2 lead behind four points from Swords. BC's lead increased to nine points with 6:54 in the first half on a layup from Swords. The Eagles shot only 34 percent from the floor in the half but held a 31-23 lead. Swords had nine points at the half, while Korina Chapman (12 points, five boards) added six.
BC's lead grew to 14 points just four minutes into the half when the Eagles went on a 9-3 run sparked by four points from Thoman and a deep three-pointer from Kerri Shields (six points, four assists). The lead continued to increase as the Eagles went on a 15-2 run capped off by a three-pointer from freshman Katie Zenevitch with just less than 10 minutes to play.
A layup by Shaniqua Pauldino stopped the run but the Eagles came back with a layup by Swords and Brown. Clemson had no answers as Zenevitch and Chapman attacked the offensive boards and supplied BC with energy off the bench. The duo combined for 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Freshman Katie Zenevitch missed a double-double by one points. She had nine points and 10 rebounds ... Korina Chapman notched 12 points and five boards ... BC had only 10 turnovers and 21 second chance points ... Junior Marissa Mello saw her first ACC action and stuck a three-pointer with seven seconds to play. It was her first career points ... BC's bench had 30 points, to Clemson's 11 ... The Eagles won the battle of the boards, 52-33 ... Freshman Kristen Doherty filled up the stat line again. The rookie guard had nine points, eight boards and four steals ... This was the first game this season in which everyone saw playing time and scored ... The Eagles next game is next Sunday, Feb. 13 against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
