PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Freshman Ryan Anderson scored a career-high 16 points off the bench as Boston College lost at Providence, 64-57, Thursday night in front of 8,051 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Anderson went 5-for-8 from the field and connected on three 3-pointers. Freshman Dennis Clifford matched a career high with 10 points coming off the bench and grabbed six rebounds. Classmate Patrick Heckmann recorded 12 points, going 9-for-10 from the foul line.
Providence led by as many as six in the first half but could never pull away from the Eagles. On the final play of the first 20 minutes, LaDontae Henton had a put-back to give Providence a 30-26 lead.
The Friars maintained a slim advantage for most of the second half. BC pulled within a point, 49-48, on a Jordan Daniels layup with 8:17 left.
The Eagles couldn't close the gap further and with just over a minute left, Henton got his own rebound and muscled a shot over two defenders to give the Friars a comfortable seven-point lead.
Henton led all scorers with 21 points and Vincent Council added 17 points for the Friars (8-2).
Boston College (2-7) is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Stony Brook at 5 p.m.
