Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College women’s ice hockey program will be represented by a total of six Eagles at the 2011 USA Hockey Women’s Winter Training Camp to be held from Dec. 26-31 in Blaine, Minn. The 41-player roster includes current defenseman junior Blake Bolden and forwards sophomore Taylor Wasylk and freshman Emily Field.
Head Coach Katie King Crowley will act as an assistant coach for the duration of the six-day camp that serves as an evaluation and training session for the U.S. Women’s National Team. Practices and games will take place at the National Sports Center’s Schwan Super Rink. Crowley, a three-time Olympian herself, has been an active part of USA Hockey on-goings since 2006.
Former Boston College All-Americans goalkeeper Molly Schaus and forward Kelli Stack are included among the 16 Olympians and 21-of-22 players who recently captured the 2011 Four Nations Cup in Sweden, who will also be in attendance.
Bolden, Field and Wasylk have helped the Eagles get off to their best start in program history, going 12-4-1 (.735) through the first 17 games. Field is second on the team with 15 points (5g, 10a) and ranks 10th nationally among rookies in points per game (0.88). Wasylk’s 12 points (7g, 5a) are third highest for the Eagles, with her seven goals being second most. Bolden has found the net four times and assisted six goals, but is a key-figure on a defense that leads the Hockey East with the nation’s eighth lowest goals per game average (1.94).
The team’s leading scorer, freshman center Alex Carpenter (10g, 10a) will be representing the U.S. at the U18 World Championship in the Czech Republic from Dec. 31-Jan. 7. She will be joined by 2012 NLI signees Kaliya Johnson, Haley Skarupa and Dana Trivigno.
